Following a tip-off, Jawali police in Nurpur police district seized 29 boxes of country liquor from a school bus. These were being illegally transported in the area. The police had set up a naka on the Kuther-Jawali link road late last night. While carrying out checking, the police stopped a school bus bearing HP 54-D-4918 number plate and recovered the boxes.

Nurpur SP Ashok Ratan said that after conducting preliminary investigation, the police had arrested Shamsher Singh and Raman Kumar, residents of Samker village (Jawali), who were allegedly transporting the cartons containing 348 liquor bottles. He said a case under Section 39(1) of the Excise Act had been registered against the accused and the school bus had also been impounded by the police.
