3-day Parkash Purb celebrations begin at Paonta Sahib

The 358th Parkash Utsav of Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh Guru, commenced with immense devotion and fervour at Paonta Sahib today. The three-day celebration began with the recitation of Akhand Path at Gurdwara Sahib early in the morning, setting a spiritually uplifting tone for the festivities.

As part of the inaugural events, students from Guru Nanak Mission Public School visited the gurdwara, offering heartfelt prayers and presenting kirtan. Deputy Manager Gurmeet Singh, while sharing details of the celebrations, highlighted the key events planned over the three days.

On Sunday, the second day, a grand nagar kirtan will be the main highlight. This vibrant religious procession will begin at 1 pm from gurdwara, pass through Badri Pur, and return to the gurdwara. Students from various schools will join the procession, adding colour and energy to the celebrations, showcasing the communal spirit of the event.

The concluding day on Monday will witness several significant rituals. A special congregation (diwan) will follow, featuring devotional performances by school children, local raagis, and celebrated raagi and dhaadi groups from across the country.

The grand finale will be marked by a kavi darbar (poetry session) in the evening. Esteemed poets from across the nation will recite verses inspired by Guru Gobind Singh’s teachings and life, offering profound spiritual insight to the sangat.

Paonta Sahib is enveloped in a festive atmosphere, with devotees from across the country arriving to pay homage. The celebration serves as a heartfelt tribute to Guru Gobind Singh’s teachings, emphasising values of equality, courage, and devotion to humanity.

The gurdwara committee, along with local authorities, has ensured seamless arrangements for visiting devotees, including accommodation and the provision of langar (community kitchen). This grand event not only highlights the Sikh community’s deep reverence for their Guru but also unites people in shared devotion and celebration.
