The Una police have arrested three persons for felling khairwood trees from forest land in Hatli village of Bangana, while the fourth accomplice is still at large.

On the basis of a specific information, a team of forest officials visited a portion of the forest area at Hatli village late Saturday evening and found 13 logs of khairwood tree.

Sunil Kumar, a local resident, was arrested from the spot, while Naresh and Manish Kumar, both residents of Hatli Baeri village, were arrested today.

Assistant Conservator of Forests Rahul Sharma said on the basis of the statements of the accused, the department had sealed the depot of forest contractor Munish Kumar. He said the accused had confessed that the logs of khairwood tree were to be delivered at the depot of Munish.

Rahul Sharma said a case under Sections 32 and 33 of the Indian Forests Act and Section 379 IPC had been registered.
