3 held for trafficking in Palampur

Two rescued women were shifted to Sakhi One Stop Centre

A police team led by Sub-Inspector Inder Singh raided a hotel in Mehanja village, five km from Palampur, following a tip-off about alleged immoral trafficking activities. The raid was conducted after police deployed decoy customers to verify the claims.

Speaking to reporters, Palampur DSP Lokinder Thakur said the police received confidential information about illegal activities at Red Mango Hotel near Mehanja.

Acting swiftly, a team from Palampur police station, accompanied by local witnesses, raided the premises and arrested three individuals for their alleged involvement in immoral trafficking.

A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered at Palampur police station under Sections 3, 4 and 5 of the Immoral Trafficking Prevention Act. The accused have been identified as Trilok Chand (43); Praveen Kumar (38); and Ashwani Kumar (38). All three are residents of Palampur and nearby areas.

Meanwhile, the two rescued women were presented before the court, where their statements were recorded under Section 164 of the CrPC. They were later shifted to the Sakhi One Stop Centre, a shelter home in Dharamsala.
