3 held with heroin, car seized

The Dharampur police arrested three youths on Sunday evening with 19 gm of heroin. The arrests were made during a patrol when the police, acting on a tip-off, intercepted a Baleno car on the Jabli-Dharampur stretch of the Parwanoo-Solan highway. Upon inspection, the occupants were found carrying heroin allegedly meant for sale in Dharampur and Solan.

A case has been registered under Sections 21 and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. The accused have been identified as Amit (30) of Nankhari, Arjun Singh Chauhan (28) of Chirgaon (both from Shimla) and Manthan Thakur (27) of Nirmand in Kullu.

“The police are committed to intensifying the crackdown on drug peddlers in Solan district,” said SP Gaurav Singh, who is spearheading the campaign. The seized vehicle has been impounded and investigations are underway to trace the forward and backward linkages of the network.

The trio was produced in court today for remand, while police are also verifying their past criminal records.
