Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Anirudh Singh and Public Works and Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh inaugurated the facility built in three phases from Vikasnagar to Brockhurst under the Smart City Project.
Speaking on the occasion, Aniruddh Singh said that various projects are being completed in the state capital under Smart City project and this lift will prove very helpful in getting rid of the problem of traffic jam in the city. Vikramaditya Singh said that this set of three lifts will prove to be of great convenience to the people to reach their destination in less time.
The ministers also heard the public problems. There will be flat charges of Rs 10 per person for the first stage of the lift and Rs 20 per person for the entire journey in the second and third stages of the lift. Only 20 passengers will be able to travel in this lift at a time.
Under this dream project of Ropeway and Rapid Transport System Development Corporation Limited, the lift will be operated and maintained by a single vendor for five years. This lift and overbridge will benefit people from Vikasnagar to Brockhurst. The earlier journey on foot which used to take 20-25 minutes will be completed in just five minutes with this lift.
Local MLA Harish Janartha, Mayor of Shimla Municipal Corporation Surendra Chauhan, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Bhupendra Kumar Atri, Director of Ropeway and Rapid Transport System Development Corporation Limited Ajay Sharma and many other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
