The police have arrested a couple from Yamunanagar, Haryana, in connection with the incident. They are accused of taking the minor away from Paonta Sahib and keeping her in captivity.

The case was initially registered under kidnapping charges. After the minor underwent a medical examination following her rescue, additional charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act were added. Preliminary investigations indicate that the woman accused, Amna, originally from Majra village and married in Haryana, allegedly persuaded the minor to come with her to Haryana.

During the period of abduction, the minor was without access to communication devices, which complicated efforts to locate her. The police conducted searches at multiple locations in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana before successfully recovering the girl.

Paonta Sahib DSP Manavendra Thakur said the accused couple is being thoroughly interrogated and will be presented before the court soon. After her rescue, the minor’s statement was recorded before she was reunited with her family.
