In the 39th camp organised by the Nurpur Blood Donors Club, 305 volunteers, including 29 women, donated blood here on Sunday. Apart from small camps, the club has been organising a mega camp every year on March 23 on Martyrdom Day for the last one decade.

Long queues of volunteers were witnessed while waiting for their turn to donate throughout the day in the camp. Blood bank teams from Tanda Medical College, Kangra and Civil Hospital, Pathankot collected blood units. The Nurpur Blood Donors Club was formed in 2015 by local social activists with an objective to fulfil emergency as well as routine blood requirements of the patients admitted in the government and private hospitals.

On the occasion, Rajiv Pathania, president of the club, said that the volunteers connected with the club had so far donated 10,000 blood units in the camps, meeting emergency requirements of the patients during the past one decade. Pathania said the volunteers were doing a commendable job by donating blood to the needy patients admitted in government and private hospitals within or outside the state.

“The Nurpur Blood Donors Club is also participating in the national blood donation programme ‘Samvedna-2’ being organised by the National Integrated Forum of Artists and Activists (NIFA) in 28 states and eight union territories in the country on March 21 to 23. The programme is being monitored by the World Record of Excellence, London (UK),” he said.
