32 hurt as bus falls into deep gorge in Bilaspur

CM, Dharmani meet injured persons at AIIMS

As many as 32 persons were injured as the bus they were travelling in fell into a deep gorge near Namhole in Bilaspur district today.

The passengers were reportedly coming after paying obeisance at a religious place at Nurmahal in Punjab and were residents of villages near Darlaghat in Solan district.

The ill-fated bus met with the accident in the wee hours. All injured were rushed to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Kothipura in Bilaspur district and are under medical care.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu visited AIIMS to inquire after the well-being of the injured. He met with the injured persons and assured them of all possible assistance from the state government. He directed the hospital administration to ensure proper medical care to the injured without delay. The bus driver of was admitted to the Civil Hospital at Markand near Bilaspur.

The district administration provided medical help to the injured persons and disbursed interim relief, as per the norms.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani, Congress leaders Pawan Thakur, Sanjeev Guleria and Gaurav Sharma. Deputy Commissioner Rahul Kumar and Superintendent of Police Sandeep Dhawal were also present on the occasion.

The SP said that a case had been registered and an investigation was underway.
