A fire broke out in the migrant workers’ settlement in Lalsingi village near Una city today, in which 33 thatched huts were gutted. Eight goats perished in the incident. The reason of the fire could not be ascertained. Fire department personnel and locals together doused the flames.
Tehsildar Vijay Rai distributed relief of Rs 1,000 to each victim whose hut was gutted, while 5,000 was given to the owner of the goats. The administration also distributed tarpaulins to the affected families for use at night. — OC
