34 institutes take part in contest on safe construction practices

In an effort to raise awareness about disaster management, a district-level model competition on safe construction practices was held today at Government Boys Senior Secondary School, Chamba.

Government Senior Secondary Schools from Sihunta and Thalli jointly secured the first position. Government High School, Tappar, won the first prize in the high school category. In the senior category, the ITI, Garnauta, emerged victorious.

Organised under the Samarth-2024 Campaign and supervised by Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repaswal, the event saw participation from 34 educational institutions selected at the block level. The DC praised the participants and their teachers for presenting creative models and sharing comprehensive information. He emphasised that developing awareness in science can play a pivotal role in shaping students’ future careers.

Highlighting Chamba’s vulnerability to natural disasters, the DC said various programmes were being conducted under the Samarth-2024 initiative to promote safe construction practices.

He also instructed the Deputy Director of Higher Education to regularly organise such events in all educational institutions. Repaswal announced a financial reward of Rs 1,100 for each participating institution and declared a cash prize of Rs 2,500 for the winning teams. He also extended his best wishes to those representing the district at the state level.

Additional DM Amit Mehra, SDM Priyanshu Khati, Deputy Director of Higher Education Piar Singh Chadak, District Development Officer Om Prakash Thakur and OSD Elementary Education Umakant Anand attended the event.
