Shimla, August 4
Four days after 53 persons went missing following flashfloods in Shimla, Kullu and Mandi districts, five more bodies were recovered today — two in Rajban, one in Sunni and two in Rampur. In all, 13 bodies have been recovered so far. While nine bodies have been identified, the four bodies recovered in Shimla are yet to be identified.

Will study National disaster demand: MoS
Wayanad: Union Minister of State Suresh Gopi on Sunday said the Centre would examine the legality of the demand from various quarters to classify as a national disaster the landslides that hit Kerala district, killing hundreds.

“We have recovered four bodies, but these are yet to be identified,” said Sanjeev Gandhi, SP, Shimla. While the bodies recovered in Rajban have been identified as that of a missing woman and her infant child, the body of a woman recovered in Sunni is yet to be identified. Also, it’s yet to be ascertained whether or not the woman is a victim of the flashflood at Samej in Shimla. The body was spotted by locals at the side of the dam in Sunni on Sunday morning. Shimla Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap said the efforts to identify the body were on.
The rescue teams carrying out the search operation in Samej feel that most missing bodies from the village will be recovered from the Sutlej or the dam in Sunni as the missing persons were, in all probability, swept away by the flood waters into the Sutlej. — TNS
