40 cops learn cybercrime investigation techniques

In a significant move to bolster the capabilities of the Himachal Pradesh Police in combating cybercrime, 40 police personnel from across the state were trained in investigation techniques during a 10-day specialised training programme that was launched on November 5. The training programme would continue till November 15.

The programme, being organised by Rohit Malpani, Commandant, 1st Battalion, Junga, Shimla district, aims to equip the police with advanced skills and knowledge in cybercrime investigation.

The programme includes distinguished guest faculty from within and outside the state, alongside experienced in-house trainers, delivering an extensive curriculum to enhance officials’ cybercrime investigation techniques.

Today, Narvir Singh Rathour Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), Traffic Tourism and Railways (TTR), held a comprehensive session on crucial aspects of cyber law, with a focus on the Information Technology Act, 2000, and its 2008 amendments. Key topics such as rules and regulations to address cybercrime, procedures and legal frameworks for cyber investigations, techniques for handling and processing digital evidence, practical insights on utilising cyber tools within legal boundaries and strategies to address emerging cyber threats were discussed during today’s session.

“This training initiative underscores the commitment of the Himachal Pradesh Police to equip its officials with cutting-edge tools and knowledge to tackle the evolving landscape of the cybercrime, while ensuring a safer environment for residents of the state” the ASP said.
