As many as 43 persons, including 15 children, tested positive for Covid in Solan on Wednesday, raising the number of cases in the district to 434.

Solan also became the first district in the state to cross the 400 mark — it also has the highest number of 285 active cases.

Medical Officer Health, Solan, Dr NK Gupta, said that among the 43 cases, 41 were from Nalagarh subdivision, including 25 direct contacts of Covid-positive persons from Wrigley India Pvt Ltd. Seven persons were inter-state travellers and six others were in institutional quarantine. Besides, two persons, who had influenza-like symptoms, and a woman with an antenatal case were randomly sampled and were found infected.

Meanwhile, the District Magistrate notified four new containment zones in Nalagarh subdivision today. The Basanti Bagh area in Baddi, Sabzi Mandi and the house of a patient at Haripur Sandholi village, Housing Board Colony in Phase III and USV industrial units at Baddi were declared as containment zones where the movement of people had been restricted.
