Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya (CSKHPKV), Palampur, celebrated its 48th Foundation Day at the university auditorium, paying tribute to the vision, dedication and tireless efforts of its founding leaders. The institution, established on November 1, 1978, has played a key role in advancing agricultural and veterinary education in Himachal Pradesh and beyond.

The celebration was graced by Dr Pardeep K Sharma, former Vice-Chancellor, as chief guest and Dr Ashok Kumar Panda, the present Vice-Chancellor. Both dignitaries commended the university’s contributions to agricultural research, education and rural development at the state and national levels.

In his address, Dr Sharma lauded the University’s progress and urged faculty and students to pursue innovation and excellence to better serve the farming community.

The Vice-Chancellor, Dr Panda, expressed gratitude to his predecessors, faculty and staff for their devoted service, noting that the University’s success rests on the collective efforts of visionary leaders, dedicated staff, committed students and the strong partnership with farmers. He called upon all stakeholders to rededicate themselves to advancing research, technology dissemination and farmer-centric education.

The event was attended by registrar Dr Madhu Chaudhary, IAS; students’ welfare officer Dr AD Bindra; Dean, College of Community Science Dr Chanderkanta Vats; Dean, College of Basic Sciences Dr Rajan Katoch and Comptroller Pankaj Sood, along with other statutory officers, faculty members, non-teaching staff and students from all four colleges.

A vibrant cultural programme by students added colour to the celebration, featuring traditional ‘nati’ and Himachali folk songs that highlighted the rich cultural heritage of the state. The performances were warmly appreciated by the audience.
