5-day training workshop on forest fires, safety ends at Sundernagar academy

The state Forest Department has stepped up preparedness to tackle the increasing risk of forest fires during the summer. It organised a five-day training and workshop on ‘Forest Fires and Fire Safety’ at the Himachal Pradesh Forest Academy at Sundernagar in Mandi district. The aim of the workshop, which was supported by the Directorate of Forest Education, Dehradun, was to enhance the readiness of Forest Department personnel in tackling fire-related emergencies.

Subhash Chand Parashar, Director of the Himachal Pradesh Forest Academy, presided over the closing ceremony of the workshop on Monday. A total of 20 forest guards and range officers from various circles participated in the programme.

The participants were educated on preventive measures and response techniques to mitigate forest fires. Experts of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Fire Department and certified first-aid trainers conducted special sessions. Joint Director Tilak Raj Sharma, Deputy Directors Sandeep Kumar, Piyush Sharma, Devender Singh Dogra and trainer Besri Sharma, along with other academy officials were present on the occasion.
