Under the aegis of District Education and Training Institute (DIET), Dharamsala, a five-day district-level capacity building workshop to hone the teaching skills of geography teachers of government schools commenced at Rehan near here on Sunday.

Forty TGT teachers from seven blocks of Kangra district participated in the workshop. DIET coordinator Joginder Singh and other experts shared techniques on how geography could be taught effectively.

Resourceperson Kapil Mehra briefed them about subject-specific teaching methodology. Professor Sanjay Pathania of Government College, Dharamsala, shared information on subjects like solar energy, cyclone, rainfall, geographical structure, etc.

Philosopher and litterateur Pankaj Darshi said teachers played a major role in nation building.
