The injured have been identified as Rajwati (60), Meena (30), Sakshi (12), Pihu (10) and Dushyant.

As Rajwati used the lighter to ignite LPG stove, the leaked gas triggered explosion, which threw open the door of the room, thus giving an opportunity to the inmates to rush out.

The injured were admitted to the Baddi Civil Hospital for treatment but were referred to the PGI, Chandigarh, as their condition was critical.

The Fire Department was informed about the mishap, but the fire engine could not reach the spot on time as it got stuck in a drain outside Var Public School in Phase-III.

Police have registered a case against Dushyant, who was illegally transferring gas from one cylinder to another, Additional SP Ashok Verma said.
