The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) has destroyed about five lakh cannabis plants that were illegally grown over 10 bighas of forest land in the Khanorni forest under the Shillihar patwar circle in the Bhuntar subdivision. Kullu ANTF DSP Hemraj Verma said the team found that some unknown persons had illegally cultivated cannabis in a large forest area.

“Two cases have been registered against under the NDPS Act and further investigations are under way,” he added. The DSP said they had received information regarding illegal cultivation of cannabis by some people at some other places in the forest area. The cannabis plantation there will be destroyed soon and action will be taken against the persons who are resorting to illegal cultivation.
