51 units of blood donated to mark Anurag’s birthday

As many as 51 units of blood were donated at a camp organised on the birthday of Hamirpur MP Anurag Thakur at the Gandhi Chowk here today. The district BJP unit organised the blood donation and blanket donation programme to celebrate the day that started with ‘Kirtan and Bhajan’ presentations by the BJP Mahila Morcha.

Archana Chauhan, president of the district unit of the Mahila Morcha, said that women from all five blocks had prepared cultural items for the occasion. She added that Anurag was the most affectionate and effective leader of the region and the district BJP unit was thankful to him for always helping the people of the area.

Former MLAs Vijay Agnihotri, Urmil Thakur, Baldev Sharma and other leaders of the BJP were also present on the occasion. Rakesh Thakur, district president of the BJP, said that there was great enthusiasm among the youth for blood donation but a team of the Health Department could only take 51 units while 108 persons had enrolled for donation. He added that prayers were also performed for the longer life and growth of the leader.

Leaders of the district BJP unit Vikram Banyal, media in-charge; Ajay Rintu, general secretary; Vinod Thakur, spokesperson; and Dharmender Sharma, treasurer; were also present. The leaders also cut a cake to celebrate Anurag’s birthday.
