Revenue, Horticulture and Tribal Development Minister Jagat Singh Negi today took stock of various ongoing developmental projects in the Kalpa development block. He directed officials not to compromise on the quality of the under-construction projects and to ensure all projects were completed on time.

During the inspection, the minister directed the Public Works Department (PWD) Executive Engineer to install granite stones in the courtyard of the Maa Chandika Kalpa temple. He also instructed officials to install benches and chairs at the Kalpa Tehsil office immediately.

The minister also conducted surprise inspections at the Agriculture Farm, Kalpa; Dev Raj Negi Sports Ground; Vishnu Narayan temple; Kalpa Police Post and Judicial Lockup; Ice-Skating Rink; and Sulabh toilets. He instructed officials concerned to ensure that all necessary amenities were available.

Minister Negi also visited the Kalpa Government Senior Secondary School and Government Middle School. He checked students’ notebooks and instructed teachers to impart quality education to the schoolchildren.

The Kalpa Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Shashank Gupta; Jalta Deputy Superintendent of Police Naveen; District Agriculture Officer OP Bansal; and Public Works Department Executive Engineer Dinesh Sen, among others, accompanied the minister.

On Thursday, the Cabinet Minister attended the annual prize distribution ceremony of the Government Senior Secondary School, Reckong Peo. He said the state government was continuously striving to provide quality education in every school, adding that teachers were being equipped with modern facilities to improve the level of teaching.

Negi added that under the leadership of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, comprehensive development of the state, including tribal districts, was being ensured. He said that English will be introduced as a medium of instruction in state government schools from Class I.

The Revenue Minister added that the process of filling vacant posts of teachers in government schools was ongoing and the state government was determined to expedite the process. Negi announced that 6,000 pre-nursery teachers would be recruited soon.

On this occasion, the Cabinet Minister also honoured the students for their excellent academic performance. Earlier, Principal Jiya Lal Negi welcomed the chief guest, Jagat Singh Negi, and presented the school’s annual report to him.

Director of Cooperative Bank Vikram Singh Negi, Panchayat Committee president Lalita Pancharas, District Congress Committee president Umesh Negi, District Women’s Congress president Saroj Negi, Kalpa Block Congress president Jai Kishan and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
