Shimla, August 11

The Lions Club, Shimla, here today organised a tree plantation drive at Carignano Nature Park, Mashobra, planting about 60 saplings around the park.

In a bid to promote the “say no to plastic” cause, and to maintain cleanliness at the park complex, the club donated 100 eco-friendly jute bags to the park, which can be used by visitors.

With these bags, visitors would be encouraged to not to throw wrappers or other waste material in the open, but to keep it in jute bags for disposing of in dustbins. The visitors would then return the bags to caretakers to be reused again.

Lion Club president Man Mohan Verma said the staff of Carignano Nature Park appreciated the initiative, and assured the club of promoting cleanliness among the visitors of the park.
