61 roads, 212 water supply schemes disrupted in Kangra

Heavy rain and landslides in the past 24 hours have disrupted normal life in Kangra district, with 61 roads blocked and 212 drinking water supply schemes non-functional, according to a report issued by the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) here, today.

The rains have also damaged 15 houses and 25 cowsheds. In Chalah village of Thural tehsil, a leopard attack was reported in which nine goats belonging to resident Rooj Mumma were killed, last night.

The Dharamsala sub-division has been the worst affected, with eight roads blocked and 85 water supply schemes disrupted. The Nurpur sub-division reported 10 roads blocked and 126 water supply schemes out of order.

In Shahpur, 14 roads were blocked and a snag was developed in one power distribution transformer.

The Palampur/Bhawarna areas reported 11 roads blocked and one power transformer disrupted. Indora and Dehra reported six roads blocked each, with Dehra also reporting one water supply scheme disrupted. Smaller blockages were recorded in Nagrota Bagwan (four roads) and Jaisinghpur (two roads).
