As many as 635 roads, including two National Highways, remain blocked for vehicular traffic in Himachal Pradesh as a result of torrential rain that continues to wreak havoc across the state.

As per the State Emergency Operation Centre, 24 roads, including National Highway 03, are closed in Mandi district, while as many as 167 roads, including NH-305, are blocked in Kullu district.

Other affected districts include Kangra (65 roads blocked), Sirmour (46), Solan (30), Una (23), Lahaul and Spiti (21), Bilaspur (eight) and Hamirpur and Kinnaur (one each), severely disrupting traffic movement in these areas.

Additionally, as many as 1,333 distribution transformers are non-functional, affecting water supply. These include 681 in Mandi, 218 in Solan, 191 in Kullu, 182 in Sirmour, 11 in Kangra, five in Kinnaur and three in Shimla.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast continued heavy rainfall across Himachal Pradesh on Thursday. An orange alert has been issued for Kangra and Sirmour districts, and a yellow alert is in place for Shimla, Chamba, Mandi, Hamirpur, Kinnaur and Kullu districts.
