The state witnessed 293 Covid cases today, taking the the tally to 13,679. Besides, seven persons died of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of fatalities to 152.

Two deaths each were reported in Shimla and Solan and one each in Chamba, Bilaspur and Sirmaur. The highest number of 57 cases were reported in Kangra, followed by 48 in Sirmaur, 36 in Shimla, 34 each in Mandi and Una, 26 in Solan,15 in Hamirpur, nine each in Kinnuar and Kullu, and two in Lahaul and Spiti.

Fifty-seven persons tested positive for coronavirus in Kangra, most of them in rural areas, on Friday.

Two deaths in Solan

A 55-year-old man from Chambaghat in Solan and a 62-year-old Nalagarh resident died of Covid at MMU Medical College, Kumarhatti, on Friday. The Chambaghat patient was suffering from co-morbidities such as hypothyroidism and a severe respiratory problem.

Besides, 26 Covid cases were detected in the district. These included an employee of the SBI branch and an HRTC employee at Parwanoo, said Medical Officer, Solan, Dr NK Gupta.

2 cops among 48 infected

Forty-eight persons tested Covid positive in Sirmaur district. Those found infected included two policemen of Katcha Tank police post, Nahan, a 42-year-old employee of Carlsberg India Pvt Ltd and a 37-year-old biochemist of Nahan medical college. Besides, a 45-year-old woman died of Covid at the community health centre at Paonta Sahib. She was also suffering from hypertension.
