The 73rd Himachal Day was celebrated on Wednesday, here, with the utmost austerity as never before.

Adhering to the social-distancing guidelines and other precautions, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur unfurled the Tricolour, while wearing a facemask.

It was a unique spectacle; with a few officers present on the Sprawling Ridge Maidan wearing masks and maintaining social distance.

Chief Minister took a salute at the march past by the police contingent and it was a tame affair with home guards, armed police, NCC and other sections.

The audience missing from the scene.

The Chief Minister gave a small speech and asked the residents to collectively fight against COVID-19 and no announcements were made.

The entire function, which used to last for more than two hours, ended in ten minutes.

The cultural programme, which had been an integral part of the celebration, during the past seven decades was not organised due to the COVID-19 curfew.

People did not turn up inspite of the three hours curfew relaxation.
