The Honorary Commissioned Officers Association of Himachal Pradesh (HCOWA) today praised the Indian Army on 74th Army Day here. Capt Jagdish Verma (Retd), president of the HCOWA, praised the role of the armed forces. He said the Indian Army was established on April 1, 1895, but when India got independence, it was on January 15, 1949, that General KM Kariappa took over the baton from British General Sir Francis Butcher.

“On this day, all command headquarters as well as the main headquarters in New Delhi celebrate the day by holding a parade,” said Captain Verma.
