More than 80 cadets from COE-GDC Sanjauli, Rajiv Gandhi GDC, Kot Shera, GDC Theog, Sunni and St Bede’s College, and ANOs/CTOs of a number of schools and colleges donated 43 litres of blood during a blood donation camp held at the Ridge on Sunday. 7 HP (1) COY NCC, Shimla, organised the camp to celebrate NCC Day and Constitution Day. A medical team from the IGMC provided the medical support, while Urban Development Minister Suresh Bhardwaj inaugurated the camp. Col Suneet Shankta, Commanding Officer, 7 HP (1) COY NCC, Shimla, appreciated the cadets and other donors for the noble gesture.

Online workshop for PWD engineers

A week-long workshop was conducted by the department of civil engineering, Jaypee University of Information Technology, Waknaghat, on ‘Sustainable highway construction’. More than 100 participants, including assistant engineers and junior engineers of the state PWD and various academic personalities, attended it. As sustainability is the key requirement for a bright future, the workshop focused on safe ways to use natural and waste resources in the highway construction. Physical, chemical, and micro structure characteristics of bitumen, and concrete-linked ingredients were discussed to make safe use of concrete and bitumen mixture design. The use of sustainable construction materials obtained from industrial waste was also discussed.

Khesta elected prez of HP Edu panel

Mohan Keshta has been elected president of the Himachal Education Committee, Shimla. He was elected in the body’s general house held on Monday. Bhageshwar Sharma from Kullu was elected senior vice-president and Premlal Sharma from Bilaspur and Khemraj Sharma were elected vice-presidents.
