823 roads blocked, power supply disrupted across Himachal

As many as 823 roads, including three National Highways, were blocked for vehicular traffic, while as many as 1,181 power distribution transformers remain disrupted as heavy downpour continued to wreak havoc across Himachal.

According to the State Emergency Operation Centre, the worst-affected district is Kullu where 227 roads, including the National Highway-03 and the National Highwary-305, are blocked for vehicular traffic, followed by 188 roads in Mandi, 141 in Shimla, 88 in Chamba, 52 in Sirmour, 44 in Kangra, 26 including NH-70 in Una, 24 in Bilaspur, 17 in Solan, nine in Lahaul and Spiti, four in Kinnaur and three in Hamirpur district.

The downpour has severely disrupted power supply in the state. Out of total 1,181 transformers, as many as 722 are disrupted in Kullu, 171 in Chamba, 127 in Mandi, 76 in Sirmour, 68 in Shimla, 11 in Lahaul and Spiti and six in Solan.

Meanwhile, heavy rain is very likely to continue across the state on Monday as the state's Meteorological Department has issued an orange weather warning for Sirmour, predicting few spells of heavy rain in the district. Also, a yellow weather warning has been issued for Shimla, Kangra, Mandi, Solan, Chamba, Una, Hamirpur, Bilaspur and Lahaul and Spiti districts for today, predicting light rainfall in isolated places of these districts.
