Addressing the gathering, Nayar said the state government is committed to ensuring that various health schemes and services reach people in rural areas. He said CHC Sahoo has been designated as an ‘Adarsh Swasthya Sansthan’ (Model Health Institution) by the state government and ten posts for doctors — including six specialist positions — have been created for the centre.

He said under the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) project, the centre would soon be equipped with a modern X-ray machine, which would enhance diagnostic and treatment facilities in the region.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Medical Officer Dr Bipen Thakur said under the ongoing special health campaign, running from September 17 to October 2, girls and women aged 15 to 49 years are being screened for anaemia, provided antenatal checkups, universal immunization and tested for blood pressure, diabetes and tuberculosis.

He said as of September 29, a total of 88,628 women had been screened under the programme, with 78,156 undergoing haemoglobin (Hb), diabetes, blood pressure and TB tests. Dr Thakur added 1,385 ‘Nikshay Mitras’ have been registered so far to provide mental and social support to TB patients.
