Assembly Deputy Speaker Vinay Kumar yesterday said that 90 per cent of the work to upgrade the Palar-Padiadhar road at a cost of Rs 4.59 crore had been completed. He added that the construction of the Rampur-Palao road had been completed at a cost Rs 3.64 crore, Gehal-Deemaina-Dasakna link road at a cost of Rs 2.17 crore and the Chadna-Kheeldhar-Sayadhar road for Rs 2.75 crore. He presided over a meeting to review the progress of ongoing development works and grievance redress mechanisms in Sangrah subdivision of Sirmaur district.

He directed all departments to expedite works that had been pending since last year and ensure their timely completion. He said that such meetings would be organised regularly to improve coordination between various departments and the public. He added that the process would help in addressing people’s issues more efficiently.

He instructed officials of the Renuka Dam Project to sponsor trainees belonging to the affected families at the ITI located in the project area under the Rehabilitation and Resettlement Plan.

All departments presented detailed reports of their achievements over the past three years. The Welfare Department said that 1,646 eligible beneficiaries in Sangrah tehsil were receiving pensions under various schemes. Under the Swarna Jayanti Aashray Yojana, a total assistance of Rs 36 lakh had been provided to 24 beneficiaries in the past three years while three beneficiaries had received Rs 1.50 lakh under the Inter-Caste Marriage Scheme.

The Jal Shakti Department stated that 324 gravity water schemes and 30 lift water supply schemes had been completed in Sangrah subdivision while the work on six gravity schemes and two lift schemes was underway.
