A total of 9,302 candidates appeared in the Common Entrance Test of Himachal Pradesh Technical University (HPTU), Hamirpur, held today, officials said.

They said that the test was held at 16 centres across 10 districts of the state. A total of 10,517 candidates had applied for the entrance exam and 9,302 of them appeared while the remaining were absent, they added.

Among the applications, 9,782 were for undergraduate subjects while 735 for postgraduate.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
