On the evening of the incident, Nand Lal reportedly returned home and entered his wife’s room, where a heated argument ensued. During the confrontation, he allegedly threw acid on her, causing critical burn injuries.

Family members and neighbours rushed the victim to Zonal Hospital, Mandi, where she received emergency medical treatment. Given the gravity of her condition, she was referred the same night to AIIMS, Bilaspur. As her health deteriorated, doctors referred her to the PGI, Chandigarh, where she was under intensive care for several days. Unfortunately, she passed away last night.

Mandi Superintendent of Police (SP) Sakshi Verma stated that an FIR has been registered at the Sadar Police Station under relevant sections. The accused was arrested soon after the incident. He has since been placed under judicial remand.
