Action against 2 industrial units of Kala Amb region

The Pollution Control Board (PCB) has taken stringent action against two industrial units in the Kala Amb region of Sirmaur district. The PCB has imposed a fine of Rs 42 lakh on one industrial unit, while the electricity connection of the other has been severed.

The decision came after the PCB conducted tests on samples taken from the treatment plant of a pharmaceutical factory. Some of these samples failed to meet the required standards, prompting the board to issue a notice. The industry management did not respond to the notice, leading to the board’s stern action.

As a result, the electricity connection of Sai Tech Pharmaceutical Factory has been disconnected and Symbiosis Pharmaceutical Factory has been fined Rs 42 lakh. According to the PCB, both these units are owned by the same proprietor.

Atul Parmar, Executive Engineer of the PCB, stated that there had been numerous complaints against these industries over a long period. He affirmed that the actions taken were based on these complaints and the subsequent findings of the investigation.
