Administration conducts cruise ship trial run in Gobind Sagar lake

The Bilaspur district administration today reviewed the performance of a cruise ship during a trial run conducted in Gobind Sagar lake. Deputy Commissioner Abid Hussain Sadiq said Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu would soon inaugurate various water sports activities in the district, including regular operation of the cruise ship.

He said a long-cherished desire of the locals and tourists to enjoy the cruise in the lake would be fulfilled as all safety measures and statuary formalities would be completed at the earliest.

The DC said the CM had assured every possible help to start water and other adventure sports activities in the area.

CM Sukhu had directed to complete the project in stipulated time, he added.

The DC said the trial run of the cruise ship was conducted near Mandi Bharari bridge as the area would become hub of multifarious activities in future.

He said the CM would inaugurate the cruise and other water sport activities immediately after the Navratri festival.

The cruise in Bilaspur would be first of its kind not only in Himachal Pradesh, but in north India as well.

The DC said a similar cruise would also be launched in the Kol Dam reservoir that would ferry people from Kol Dam to the Tatapani and Sunni areas of Mandi and Shimla districts. The project would be a game changer in developing economy of the area, he added.

Bilaspur SDM Abhishek Garg, DSP Madan Dhiman and other officers of the administration were also on board during the trial run.
