The administration has launched several winter sports events, including ice hockey in Spiti, skiing, snowboarding, snow volleyball, traditional archery, tug-of-war and matka breaking. Other engaging activities such as snowball heating, weaving, henna art and musical chair races have been introduced to encourage local participation while promoting cultural heritage.

A highlight of the festival is the active involvement of local women, who are showcasing their traditional dishes and handloom products. Deputy Commissioner Kumar noted that such events contribute to boosting the local economy and generating employment opportunities through tourism.

Beyond winter sports, the district administration is focused on preserving and promoting Lahaul Spiti’s unique cultural heritage. Events like the Sharad Utsav emphasise India’s diversity while offering tourists an immersive experience of the region’s traditions. The goal is to increase tourist footfall and provide unforgettable experiences that encourage visitors to return.
