Agnihotri lays stone of park in memory of Kirti Chakra awardee

Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri today laid the foundation stone of a park in the memory of Naik Dilwar Khan of Gharvasada village in Bangana subdivision. Naik Khan was posthumously awarded the Kirti Chakra by President Droupadi Murmu on May 22.

Artillery Regiment of the Army. He was posted in 28 Rashtriya Rifles to fight insurgency in Jammu and Kashmir. On the intervening night of July 23 and 24, 2024, Dilwar Khan was part of an ambush party, tasked with intercepting insurgents in the Lolab valley of Kupwara district. Around midnight, the Army patrol came in contact with two insurgents, one of whom was just a few feet away from it. Dilwar Khan pounced on the insurgent and a hand-to-hand combat ensued. Dilawar shot the insurgent dead at a point-blank range. However, indiscriminate firing by the second militant left Dilwar fatally injured.

On 22 May, President Droupadi Murmu conferred the Kirti Chakra, posthumously on Dilwar. His mother Bhola Biwi and wife Jameela received the award. Dilwar is survived by his father Karam Deen and son Junej, besides his mother and wife.

The Deputy Chief Minister paid tributes at the memorial of Naik Dilwar Khan in an upcoming park. He said that the country would never forget the supreme sacrifice made by the son of Himachal Pradesh in the face of terror. He also felicitated the parents and the wife of the soldier. Kutlehar MLA Vivek Sharma accompanied Agnihotri.

Earlier, Agnihotri distributed cheques amounting to Rs 12.21 lakh among 70 beneficiaries of different government schemes at the Ghaluwal rest house in the Haroli Asembly segment. He said that the government was committed towards delivering welfare schemes to the intended beneficiaries.
