Solan, November 17

Anurag Thakur, Union Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs, today said vanvasi ashrams were doing exemplary service in 90 per cent tribal districts of the nation.

While presiding over the annual function of Himgiri Kalyan Ashram, he said the centre was doing appreciable work in providing education to needy students from backward areas and making them self-reliant.

Thakur said various sections of society should contribute towards this noble cause. He announced a financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh for the ashram and said he would donate books to the ashram every year besides sports kits and clothes.

Thakur urged people to work in unison and help Prime Minister Narendra Modi realise his dream of being a world leader and making India a $5 trillon economy by 2025.

He elaborated upon the various initiatives undertaken for students and the ailing and said 200 meritorious students were being taken for an India visit which was providing them the apt exposure. Besides, as many as 1.75 lakh people had been benefitted by three mobile hospitals which were provided to the Hamipur Lok Sabha constituency.
