Anurag Thakur launches district-level campaign in Una

Lok Sabha MP Anurag Thakur today launched the district-level —100 days campaign against TB — under the National TB Elimination Programme here today. He also flagged off a “Nikshay Van” which would tour different parts of the district during the next 100 days to create public awareness regarding the campaign.

Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Sanjiv Verma said, “The campaign will be carried out by ASHA workers at the village level. People with tuberculosis symptoms and those having five different types of ailments will be screened and their sputum samples collected at the household level for analysis at designated government laboratories” He said portable X ray machines would be used to diagnose the disease on the spot.

The CMO said, “Special focus will be on high-risk areas such as migrant workers habitations. At present, 740 TB patients are receiving treatment in Una district.”

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Anurag Thakur called upon the people to participate in the programme since the Narendra Modi-led government had committed to eliminate tuberculosis from the country. He said besides free medicines, a monthly amount of Rs 1,000 was being given to TB patients for nourishment and proper diet. Una MLA Satpal Satti, former minister Virender Kanwar and Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal were also present on the occasion.
