APS-Dagshai triumphs in inter-Army school debate

Army Public School (APS), Dagshai, emerged champions of the 2 Corps Inter-Army School English Debate Competition held at 14 GTC Subathu, while APS-Chandimandir finished as runners-up.

Hosted by APS-Dagshai, the competition saw spirited participation from five Army Public Schools under 2 Corps, each represented by two speakers, one speaking for and the other against the motion, along with an interjector.

The event was graced by Col SP Bishnoi, Commanding Officer, Training Battalion, 14 GTC Subathu, as chief guest. The panel of judges included Prof Roshan Lal Sharma, Head of English & Languages, Central University of Himachal Pradesh, Dharamsala; Prof KK Raina, Professor (MBA) and former Dean of Students’ Welfare, Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni; and Sunil Kumar Verma, Senior English Teacher, Pinegrove School, Dharampur.

The competition featured thought-provoking arguments, sharp rebuttals and impressive interjections as students showcased their reasoning and articulation skills. APS-Dagshai dominated the contest, clinching all individual honours. Tvisha Dave was adjudged best speaker (for the motion), Khushmeet Saini won best speaker (against the motion) and Prabhav Dyal Madaik bagged best interjector.

Col Bishnoi highlighted the importance of human intelligence and the value of the learning process over outcomes. Prof Roshan Lal Sharma, in his closing remarks, urged students to balance technological progress with human values. The event celebrated critical thinking, clarity of expression and the enduring spirit of intellectual competition.
