Chief Parliamentary Secretary (Public Works, Health and Family Welfare and Information and Public Relations Department) Sanjay Awasthi today inaugurated the three-day state level Sairotsav at the historic Chaugan Ground in Arki.

The fair is organised every year during mid-September and draws a large crowd from the area. Earlier, bull fighting was a key highlight of the event, but the practice was discontinued a while ago.

During the fair, devotees offered harvested crops to the divine. Villagers also sought blessings for a bumper crop in the next season. Awasthi appreciated the exhibitions set up by various departments and self-help groups during the fair.

He assured the gathering that funds for the construction of a new stage at the Chaugan Ground in Arki would be provided. On this occasion, cultural programmes were presented by schoolchildren.
