All-India Congress Committee spokesperson Kuldeep Singh Rathore condemned the arrest of Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and MPs of other parties outside Parliament today, calling it undemocratic. “The BJP-led government at the Centre is trying to crush the rights of the Opposition,” said Rathore.

He further said it seemed that an undeclared emergency had been imposed in the country, where no one has the right to speak against the government. “And if someone speaks, the ED, CBI or Income Tax is sent after him. The rights of constitutional institutions are being violated and they are being weakened,” he alleged.

Rathore said when a group of MPs, led by Rahul Gandhi, was marching towards the Election Commission office, they were arrested. “The BJP leaders started giving clarifications to the media on the commission while the Election Commission is sitting silent. This clearly indicates that the government is completely scared and nervous about Rahul’s allegations,” he said. Rathore said if the facts presented by Gandhi were investigated, the government would be facing a major crisis.

Rathore claimed that elections had been rigged not only in Karnataka and Maharashtra but in the entire country. “Votes have been stolen and the BJP-led government at the Centre has been formed with stolen votes,” he alleged. He further said the entire Opposition was united against this vote theft and the Election Commission would have to give the correct information to the country.
