Education Minister Rohit Thakur today inaugurated an art exhibition organised by the Department of Visual Arts, Himachal Pradesh University, at the historic Gaiety Theatre. During the inauguration, he emphasised that art is a powerful medium for preserving culture and traditions. The minister expressed his admiration for the paintings and other artworks created by the artists and appreciated the significance of the event.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister noted that such exhibitions provide students with a valuable opportunity to showcase their talents.

He further highlighted that these events also play an important role in raising awareness about art in society. Prof Rajinder Verma, Pro vice-chancellor of HP University, who attended the event as the distinguished guest, remarked, “Artists play a vital role in preserving culture and conveying various messages to society through different colours and mediums. Therefore, the role of an artist is significant for the nation and society.”

Dr Sangram Singh, the coordinator of the exhibition, shared that the exhibition features works by many students and artists. “The aim of the exhibition is to present various forms of art to the public and encourage emerging artists,” he said. Dr Singh also thanked the Education Minister for taking time out of his busy schedule to attend the event.

The event was attended by several professors, students and art enthusiasts from the university, all of whom appreciated the exhibition and praised the works of the artists. The art exhibition will remain open for the next few days, allowing the public to visit and enjoy these beautiful creations.
