Baddi girl tops State Joint Entrance Examination

Vanshita Thakur, a resident of Suncity, Baddi, scored 99.83 percentile to top the State Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Mains for engineering, result for which was declared on Saturday.

A student of Nav Jyoti Century School, Baddi, Vanshita began her preparation for JEE since she was in Class XI.  

She was also taking coaching from a private institute in Chandigarh for the last two years.

“I have been devoting 8 to 10 hours for studying on a daily basis and I’m  targeting to clear the JEE (Advanced)  now to seek admission in top engineering institutes like the IITs,” said Vanshita while talking to The Tribune.

While pursuing engineering is her main focus, Vanshita also has a keen interest in music and dance. During a break from studies she often listens to music and likes to dance to rejuvenate herself.

Vanshita is the eldest of the three siblings and her success will inspire her younger sister and brother.

Vanshita’s father Rakesh Thakur works as a superintending engineer in the HP State Electricity Board Limited at Solan. Her mother, Arti Thakur is a teacher.

Vanshita had secured 95.4 per cent marks in her Class XII exams.

Elated at her daughter’s achievement, Rakesh Thakur said her daughter’s single-minded focus and dedication helped her achieve the success though her target remains the more tough JEE advanced.
