Baddi scrap dealer gets Rs1-cr ransom call

The caller threatened him with dire consequences if he failed to pay within 21 days.
Following the complaint of scrap dealer Ramkishen, the police have registered a case of extortion and criminal intimidation. The call made from an international number was being traced after securing the call details of the complainant, said an officer.
In his complaint to the police, Ramkishen stated that he received the call on his cell phone on August 23 at 10.18 pm. He did not attend the call. Thereafter he received a WhatsApp message in Punjabi, which he translated through Google. It read: “Ramkishen we have been keeping tabs on you for many days. You are flying high and now you have bought a Defender car. A meeting will be held at your house. Be prepared for the first and last meeting.”
He later received a call at 11.57 am the same day, which he did not attend. Thereafter, several calls were made by the unidentified caller. He finally answered a call at 5.33 pm the next day. The caller gave him 21 days either to pay Rs 1 crore or face dire consequences.
