Hundreds of tourists descended on Billing at the weekend today to enjoy paragliding. The state government had imposed a complete ban on paragliding following fatal mishaps which had claimed half a dozen lives in the past year. After notifying certain safety guidelines Deputy Commissioner Kangra Dr Nipun Jindal restored all types of paragliding activities in Bir Billing.

Most of the hotels and homestays in Bir Billing are full to capacity as for the first time in the past six months such a huge inflow of tourists has been witnessed in Bir Billing. Asia’s best paragliding site and is ranked amongst the top paragliding sites in the world. This cozy village, a noted centre for eco-tourism, meditation and spiritual studies is located away from the hustle and bustle of big cities and other tourist destinations.

The valley is located in the west of Mandi district and the village is famous for its scenic beauty. It is also one of those less famous adventure destinations around the globe that offers holistic peace of mind to adventurers as well as travelers.

On the top of the mountains is take off site for paragliding. Host to Paragliding World Cup in 2018, Bir is referred to as the ‘Paragliding Capital of India’ and is fast becoming a mecca for paragliding enthusiasts and adventure sports lovers across the world.

Billing, the take-off point, is situated at 8,000 feet from sea level and offers a great flight. The landing site is on the southern edge of Bir and is approximately 4,500 feet from sea level. The scenic beauty and the height from sea level offer amazing weather conditions throughout the year.
