Deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri today said the Barsar water supply scheme would be retendered since the source had been changed from Beas to Satluj, reducing a distance of 40 km.

In his response to the issue of construction of the Barsar drinking water scheme raised by Jaswan Pragpur MLA Bikram Singh, he said a four-member panel had been constituted to look into the lapse so that a final report was received. “I assure the House that all 24 schemes will be limited within Rs 745 crore received from the Centre and not a penny of the HP Government will be spent on them,” he said. If the source had been changed from Beas to Satluj, there had to be a retendering process, he said.

Till December 2024, Rs 131 crore had to be exhausted or else the scheme would be shelved, he added. He said, “A saving of Rs 70 crore is being made with the change of source,” he said.
