A house was destroyed in a fire in Basa village of Kholighat panchayat in Nankhari on Friday evening. Fortunately, there were no casualties as the entire family of five was outside when flames erupted.

Despite efforts to control the flames, the fire spread rapidly and the two-storeyed house could not be saved. Panchayat representatives promptly notified the Revenue Department and police about the incident. The administration has allocated Rs 10,000, along with five blankets and a tarpaulin, to assist the affected family. The cause of the fire remains undetermined.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
