Chamba legislator Neeraj Nayar on Thursday emphasised the vital role of Anganwadi and ASHA workers in ensuring that the various government schemes for the welfare of women and children reached beneficiaries.

He was presiding over a camp organised under the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao initiative in the Saho area. The MLA said the state government was implementing several public welfare schemes aimed at the holistic development of women and children.

He urged Anganwadi and ASHA workers to collaborate with panchayat representatives to raise awareness about such schemes so that people could benefit from them.

Nayar also stressed the importance of women’s education, urging the attendees to educate their daughters to ensure a bright future for them.

During the event, the MLA planted apple and pomegranate saplings to mark the occasion. He also distributed Fixed Deposit Receipts (FDRs) worth Rs 2.31 lakh under the Beti Hai Anmol Yojana, providing Rs 21,000 each to 11 eligible beneficiaries. Under the Chief Minister Kanyadan Yojana, Rs 7.65 lakh had been distributed in the Chamba block during the financial year 2024-25, he added, stating that Rs 45.57 lakh under the Chief Minister Shagun Yojana and Rs 36.57 lakh under the Beti Hai Anmol Yojana had been distributed to beneficiaries.
