The Shimla district unit of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) is set to stage a protest in the month of October outside the Deputy Commissioner’s office in order to fulfil their various demands.

The demands include the release of dearness allowance (DA) and arrears, implementation of 6th Pay Commission benefits, restoration of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) across all departments, boards, and corporations, regularization of tailoring teachers under the Panchayati Raj Department and bringing Zila Parishad employees under the Panchayati Raj Department.

Their other demands include creation of a permanent policy and provision of minimum wages for outsourced employees, unified honorarium payments to ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers and Mid-Day Meal staff by the central and state governments, employment on compassionate grounds, prompt convening of Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) meetings in all departments and permanent policy and minimum wage provision for multi-task workers, para pump operators, para fitters and multi-purpose workers.

The decision was taken during a meeting of the Executive Committee of BMS, Shimla district that was held in Theog under the chairmanship of district president Het Ram Sharma.

Representatives from various departments and organisations, including the Public Works Department, Jal Shakti Department, Civil Supplies, Electricity Board, Panchayati Raj, Municipal Corporation, Women and Child Development Department, Health Department, Transport Corporation, Education Department, Tourism Corporation, Cooperation Department, UCO Bank, Punjab National Bank, Gramin Bank, Forest Corporation, Forest Department, Agriculture Department, and Shimla Jal Prabandhan Nigam Limited, participated in the meeting.
